Garage sale joy!!

Image
Sometimes being in the right place at the right time is wonderful! Went to a garage sale today in Belgrave, Victoria. The lady there was moving to the UK for a year and needed to destash some of her craft and household items. Amongst the stuff she had there were some tatting books, thread and a few shuttles. I picked through and grabbed what I could use and asked her to price it for me. To my amazement she only wanted $10 each for the hardcover books and a couple of dollars for the shuttles and thread. All up this little lot cost me a whopping $50 AUD. I asked if she was sure that was all she wanted for the books and she said yes, if she didn't sell them they were going to the Op Shop...... Nice little pick up I would say!!

Backward progress....

Well as usual from my efforts lately I have had to go backwards a couple of steps in my progress on this doily! There I was chugging along nicely and feeling proud that I was not stressing about how many single little motifs there were in this pattern when....!! You guessed it....... I had a major case of the "I don't need to look at the pattern any more on this round cos it is in my head!!" WRONG!! (figure that is why it didn't sit nicely for me!) So I did what all 'trying to be good' tatters do. I chucked a hissy and cut off the offending round and went off in search of something else to do. (lucky for the dog she needed some training that day). Upside number one of it is that it was only one round and I was able to sit back for a while and discuss the whole mess with Amelia (the dog) and Miss Kitty (the cat) who both looked at me as if I was totally mad and argued that it needed some more color to brighten up the rather dull blues I had used anyway and ...

PROGRESS!!!

Progress!! I ACTUALLY sat down and tatted last night and ....AND....then again this afternoon!!! Bliss. The pattern is fiddly but only because it has so many separate motifs. Enjoying it though.
