A tat-along delight

Image
I have started getting back into tatting with the cooler weather and this stupid COVID19 virus lockdown. There was a tat along on Facebook in May,  Kwitnacy kasztanoweic - Blooming Chestnut run by Frywolitka2233 (Ewa Wasiliszyn) so I signed up for it. Lovely little pattern that is simple but quite elegant. The original had beads but I did not have any that fitted well with the thread. Thank you Ewa. It is a great little pattern and I look forward to seeing your book when it comes out. You can follow Ewa on Facebook for more information and possibly future tat alongs?? https://www.facebook.com/Frywolitka2233/ Threads: Lizbeth 40 Cream  (610) Lizbeth 40 Olive Dk (678) Venus 40 Vanilla  (733) Lizbeth 40 Lilac Medium (642)

Another Ginny beauty!

A long time ago I got a pattern from Ginny Weathers. She had designed a doily incorporating metal filigree squares. Sadly at the time I could not source them here and I put the pattern away. Not that long ago I was reminded of that pattern and decided to see if any of the findings I had would work. My thread of choice is usually 40 and I had some smaller findings than the ones Ginny used in her pattern with size 20 thread, so experiment time it was!!! I know this pattern as Lottie but it is also known as Star Attraction. Ginny....it is a lovely pattern to tat. The metal findings were just the right size for the 40 thread and I LOVE it!!!! Thank you for sharing your design talents. xxx Thread is Guineviere size 40 by AlenaleaDesign https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/AlenAleaDesign

Shuttle blog starting soon

Hi Everyone, Just letting you know that instead of adding a page here that I cannot add to for shuttles, I will be starting a new blog called The Shuttle In My Pocket very soon. In collating mode for all the pics and will add details to the posts as I can find them for each shuttle. Comments will be gratefully accepted, especially if you have details of a shuttle where I don't! Watch this space for new as we get set up.

To 'Monster' or not.....

Image
This is as far as I will probably get with my Jan Stawasz 'Monster' and even then it wasn't really....lol I started this pattern from his book, Tatting: Theory and Patterns, a few years ago (Crikey....just looked it up...2009!!). The centre is the same as what became known as the 'monster' doily. I got bored with it after completing all those horrid motifs and put it away. Sadly it won't become the 'monster' because I do not have enough Venus 70 in those colours to complete it. I might just finish the one in the book......... But ergh......all those motifs! maybe.... one day..... if I don't get distracted...... Ohhh look! Laura Bziukiewicz just put another doily pattern up on Etsy!............... MMMMMMM.....new pattern.......

Sneak Peek....

I was chatting with Jane Eborall about how to design animals as I wanted to make a koala to possibly try and help raise funds for our bushfire affected wildlife here in Australia. Well as usual Jane was well ahead of me and asked if I would like to proof her new koala pattern!! Hmmmm...would I? You bet I would. So Sunday night was dedicated to not only proofing Jane's pattern, but learning techniques I had never done before! Folded ring and double double stitch. Plus adding a bead to the centre of a ring which I have done but had forgotten how to do....duh! Don't be put off....they were pretty easy once you got the hang of them! Plus Jane has her great technique 'how to' pages on her site. Koala took me about 1.5 hrs but that included learning the techniques I was clueless about. He is gorgeous! Thanks Jane and BC3.
